Today is a very special day in New Orleans, GiveNOLA Day, when people are encouraged with PR campaigns and matching grants to give to local non-profits. Last year’s campaigns were very successful, with cultural institutions like the Ogden Museum and public broadcasters the clear “winners.” Those institutions are also doing quite well today.
One institution that provides a desperately needed service in our region, Second Harvest of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana, got very few donations last year and they are, again, far back in the pack.
Many here at this site have been incredibly generous to New Orleans over the years. If, today, you feel moved to give again, I ask that you consider Second Harvest. Our cultural institutions are very important and do great work. As the Rabbi said, "Man does not live by bread alone."
But, without it, he doesn't live at all.
Thanks for your consideration.
